After what seemed to be an interminable wait for proper afternoon light at a nearby location, I turned my attention to a group of barren seed pods, poking out no more than a foot from beyond the deep blanket of snow. Although completely shaded, the last few minutes of the westering sun burned a searing line of refraction off the rising mists on the receding meadows and the exquisitely silvered bounding cliffs. The pods are actually visible in the lower right corner of the print, Double Tree, Leidig Meadow.
