Lightning alone illuminates night's blackness within the Grand Canyon's labyrinth of mesas and canyons. Capturing the scene and the unfathomable series of lightning strikes proved both a combination of educated guess and luck. Ambient light illuminating the clouds and canyon walls came from an hour-and-a-half timed exposure collecting light from cloud to cloud strikes and out of frame bolts. Multiple strikes caught within the frame add drama and context to this once in a lifetime tableau. Still, making a fine art print of the negative tested both my resolve and printing abilities, as much of the negative proved unsuitable, and the rest extremely difficult to print to my normal standards.
