Since my last visit to this most exquisite of the many jewels of the Sierra, I have come to think of the Ritter–Banner massif as the Mt. Shuksan ("America's Mountain", located in northern Washington) of California, its form being evocative of an idealized graceful mountain geometry. Softly lit, Banner Peak's reflection is incised by late season ice on Island Pass Lake. Clyde Minaret is seen emerging from the clouds at far left.
