A cold and wet morning's hike through an early season snowstorm brought me to the gnarled pines of Mono Pass, on the eastern boundary of Yosemite National Park, where I was treated to a profusion of icy vistas and fog veiled subjects. Here, stones in a tarn embrace melting snow as the sun struggles to break through a clouded western sky. For a color look, see New Snow, Mono Pass.
