A lone pioneer stands vigil to an avalanche event long past, testifying to the resilience of nature in an otherwise harsh sub–alpine environment. I am often astonished at how little use the Tioga Meadows receive given their proximity to the trans-Sierra road (Ferdinand's admonishments aside).
Autumn, Tioga Meadows offers another, arguably more colorful, view of this splendid country.
