A wide angle lens and a lot of depth of field enabled me to focus both upon strong foreground elements and the far horizon's infinity. There is a palpable sense of being drawn into Yosemite's exquisite backcountry by the field of receding cumulus clouds, on this gorgeous early fall afternoon. A couple of years after this photograph was taken, the lovely foreground tree so resolutely anchored in Sierran granite, had been stripped to a bare stick, most likely by vandals. Within a year or two it had vanished completely.
